In Don Rosario Cigars offers connoisseurs, as well as fans and occasional users, handmade cigars made from premium tobacco leaves grown in Puerto Rico. Preserve and improve the history and culture of our tobacco industry to create a more informed audience. In the 1900s, Puerto Rico was the fifth largest producer of tobacco in the world. Until 1927 Puerto Rico had one of the largest tobacco industries, producing more than 350 thousand tons per year. The "Prieto" variety of tobacco was our most important asset at that time. The "Prieto" sheet was considered the most excellent and tasteful tobacco leaf wrap in the world. In 2014, as part of our dream of reviving tobacco production in Puerto Rico, we sowed tobacco seeds in the Cajas dining room in Comerio. The whole process was filmed; From soil preparation; Planting the tobacco seeds until the harvest of the impressive leaves that were gathered by the expert hands that actually remain. The classification and fermentation part was also included. We proudly proclaim that premium tobacco leaves grown in Puerto Rico are used for our handmade cigars.
